CHRISTIAN NYBERG

Christian Nyberg is as prolific as he is creative. His charred wood art ranges from wall decor and furnishings to kitchen and dining pieces. His inspiration comes from Japanese design, modern architecture, and nature. The attention to detail is undeniably apparent while also allowing his art to take shape organically.. Starting with hardwood Nyberg utilizes wood embers to burn into the surface of the wood. He then carves, sands, and then repeats the burning process. The black charred coloration that is left lies within the grain of the wood. The pieces are then oiled and waxed with products from Walrus Oil. This natural wax finish is dry food safe.

Traveling in the mediterranean as a child, she became acutely aware of the handmade in the region. its architecture and artifacts awakened an artistic sensibility that has shaped her life & work.

She creates sculptural vessels that are, like the human figure, unique and one of a kind, changing from every view point. art pieces that are made to be held and used.
